Well this week was another solid week. We had some interesting contacts with people as well as some miracles. So on Wednesday
we were visiting people up in the Georgetown ward and we were heading
back to the church building so we could have our ward correlation with
our ward mission leader. We still had about 15 mins so I was wondering
whether or not to just get there early or visit one more person, then I
had a distinct prompting to go visit this less active member. As we went
to go knock on the door guess what happened???? nothing. No one
answered. So we headed back to the church and as we walked in we ran into
Sister Richey who said "Elders I was just looking for you, will you
please answer my friends question about the Godhead?" So we went into a
room and answered her questions and then we began to teach her the
restoration. It was as if she had found the answer to something she had
been searching for her whole life. We explained how Christ's church was
lost after the apostles death and that people began taking religion
their own way and making all these different churches. She said she had
always wondered why there were so many churches. We were then able to
explain how Joseph Smith had that same question and as he read James 1:5
he realized he needed to ask of God to know which church was right.
When we taught about Joseph Smith's experience and how the Father and
the Son appeared to him and told him that none were true but that they
would soon restore the gospel through him as a prophet, She just kept
saying how much sense that makes. She was so excited to read a copy of
the Book of Mormon and pray about it. She is sincerely searching for the
truth. I know that she will find it as she read the Book of Mormon and
asks if it is truly the word of God. This was such a miracle. There was
a very specific reason Heavenly Father Prompted us to go see that
person before going to the church. If we had not done that that we would
not have walked in at the perfect timing to meet Sister Richey and her
friend Kim. I am grateful for the Lords daily guidance.
Something interesting that happened this week was on Friday
night. We were just out visiting some people trying to set up some
appointment and we stopped by a former investigator named Jerry. He is
of Jewish ancestry. Him and his family are some of the nicest people I
have ever met. They were just so warm and friendly. As we started
talking to them they explained that they were Messianic Jews. Which is
pretty much christian but they still participate and follow old Jewish
traditions and beliefs. It is very interesting. They explained to us
how the Jewish Sabbath day starts on sundown friday
night. So they asked us if we wanted to celebrate their sabbath day
with them. We said we would love to and we were able to experience a lot
of the ancient customs and traditions that the Jews did. It was so
fascinating. They started off lighting some candles and then then did
these dances while singing in hebrew. Then they said some Hebrew prayer
and drank some grape juice with some bread. It seemed like a type of
sacrament they were doing. Similar to what we do on Sunday
with the bread and water. Then Jerry gave his son a blessing in Hebrew.
It was just super cool to witness it all. They invited us back for
dinner on Father's day. I am grateful to begin working with them. I am
grateful to be able to share the Book of Mormon with them. It brings to
mind the title page in the Book of Mormon which makes clear the purpose
of it. "—And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God,
manifesting himself unto all nations—" What a powerful statement. I
know as they read and pray and ask God if it is true they will come to
know the truth of these things. I know that the Church and the Gospel of
Jesus Christ have been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I
know that the Book of Mormon is the divine evidence of that. It brings
us close to Christ as we read it. Elder Hallmark
