So Simple, So Profound

Well happy late fathers day! It has been a fantastic week. So on Thursday we had a lesson with Jayson and Tina Ravens. They have been taught by missionaries before and were almost baptized but for some reason they called it off. But recently they called us and said they wanted to start meeting again. It is amazing how much the lord has prepared them. They both want to be baptized so bad. Tina would get baptized tomorrow if she could. The only thing really holding them back is Jayson. He believes the church is true and that it has been restored but for some reason he says he wants to get an absolute confirmation of the Book of Mormon before he will be baptized. That is a little odd because they go together. If you know that one of them is true then you have to know that the other one is true as well. Based on some of his comments while we were teaching them it seems like he may be a little afraid of the commitment that is involved with joining the church. Hopefully we will be able to help him resolve those concerns. We are excited to now be working with them.

We also had the privilege of going over to the Zielinksi family for fathers day. They are the Jewish family that I wrote about a week or two ago. Where we celebrated their sabbath with them. They are seriously the nicest family I have ever met. They are just such amazing people. After dinner we were able teach them about the Book of Mormon. They have been taught by missionaries in the past about the restoration through Joseph Smith and the plan of salvation and things like that but no one really explained what the Book of Mormon is or where it came from. As we explained to him that it was the records of a remnant of the house of Israel that came from Jerusalem to the Americas in about 600 BC and as we showed him Ezekiel 37:16-19
He really began to understand and be more open to the Book of Mormon. Jerry knows so much about Jewish history and the old testament. He studies every chance he gets. So I know that as he studies the Book of Mormon and sees all of the references to the house of Israel and the history about them he will really enjoy it and he will come to know its true as he prays and asks God. I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon which helps us learn more about and draw nearer to our Savior Jesus Christ. It is so amazing how it can be studied so simply and yet it can be so profound and you can go into so much depth. I know that it is truly God's word.

Love,
