So on Tuesday
we had Mission Leadership Council (MLC). It is where we receive
direction from President Hymas for what direction the mission needs to
go. He is definitely a man inspired of the Lord. He gave a training on
wise time management, and how we as missionaries need to be aware
of everything we are doing to make sure we are doing things in the most
efficient and effective way. We are on the Lord's errand while we are on
our missions so it is not our time we are wasting, but his time, if we
choose to not do missionary work. It brought to mind a quote from the
talk "Jesus The Perfect Leader" by Spencer W. Kimball. "Wise time
management is really the wise management of ourselves."
We
have two people we are working with right now, Gale, and Anna, that are
ready to be baptized but they are both stuck in the waiting phase. Gale
is trying to get married to the man she is living with so they can live
the law of chastity and Anna wants to be baptized asap but she wants
her oldest daughter to be there, who is still in russia and is trying to
finish some legal paperwork so she can come to america. It is
frustrating with both cases because they both have such a strong desire
to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized but for some reason or another
there are circumstances that are preventing them. We will keep doing all
that we can to help them work towards baptism, but we are praying for a
miracle to help them get baptized sooner.
A
cool experience that happened this week was meeting a missionary I knew
when I lived in oregon. I went on splits with him right after I got my
mission call to sacramento and he was so excited because he said he
lived in sacramento. Well last sunday at church I saw this guy in the
hallway and he looked so familiar. so I went up and started talking to
him, and lo and behold it was the same guy who I went on splits with in
oregon. It was such a cool experience because my whole mission I have
been hoping I would somehow run into him when he returned from his
mission but I knew the odds were small. It just a super cool
experience. I am grateful for the little blessing in our lives from the
Lord. He sure does know us and love us.
Love,
Elder Hallmark
