Then
on Friday we went on Exchanges with the Zone Leaders. Guess who my zone
leader is?? My trainer Elder Toki! It was especially great to be with
him again. He was one of my favorite companions. We shared so many
memories from back when we were in the Del Campo ward. It was probably
the most fun transfer I have been on in my mission. I was so grateful for
it. It is weird now because we get along so much better. I guess that
is what time does. We have both grown so much since we have been
together. I am grateful for everything I learned from him as he was
training me. I am serving around some of the best missionaries in the
mission right now and I am so grateful.
So
this weekend we had the special privilege to watch General Conference.
It was an amazing experience. I love General Conference so much. It is
so great to hear from a modern day prophet and apostles. I think so many
people take this for granted. The fact that we have a prophet on the
earth today, someone just like moses, or noah, or abraham is just
indescribable. I am grateful that Jesus Christ has restored his church
to the earth and has called a prophet and twelve apostles to lead it. I
know they are called of God. And I am grateful to hear their words.
On
Friday the church released a new video called the Prince of Peace. It
focuses on the life of Jesus Christ and how we can learn principles of
peace from the Prince of Peace. I posted the video of it on my facebook
if any of you want to check it out. You can also watch it at mormon.org.
So to go along with that video it has 8 principles of peace with
separate videos as well as talking about how people have gained peace by
following that specific principle. They are all phenomenal. My favorite
video is "Gratitude" in it, Jon Lewis shares his story about how
gratitude has helped him find peace. He said something in it that is one
of my new favorite quotes. He said
"I have so much to be grateful for that it would be disrespectful to God if I wasn't happy."
That
is so true. We all have so much to be grateful for. Often times we
don't really recognize all that we have. The food we have to eat, the
roof over our heads, the freedoms we enjoy in this country, the
technology we use everyday. The list could go on and on. As we take the
time to be grateful for all that we have it turns our thoughts back to
the one from whom all of our blessings come from; our Heavenly Father. I
would strongly encourage everyone to watch all of the videos on that
website. I know that as you apply those principles of peace in your life
you will truly draw closer to the source of all peace, the Prince of
Peace. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. I know he lives.
Love,
Elder Hallmark
We also went to an old gold mine today called "Gold Bug Mine" it was super cool.
