Happy
President's Day! It is still raining here in Sacramento. We have gotten
so much rain here this winter and it has been amazing. This area has been
in a drought so everyone is thankful for this rain. I am
grateful as well. It is going to make this place look even more
beautiful.
There
are miracles every single day. I am beginning to notice them more and
more the longer I am on a mission. There is so much to be grateful for.
This week we have met some of the most amazing people. One that
really touched me was this little old Hispanic lady. She is one of the
strongest and most faithful Catholics I have ever met. We went over to
her house to meet with her son who was a potential investigator and as
we were talking to her I could just feel her love for the Lord and her
desire to serve him. She was not interested in hearing our message but I
was just so amazed at the faithfulness of this woman. She does not have
the full truth in her life, but she is trying to worship her Savior to
the best of her ability. It made me reflect on how much I show my love
and dedication to my savior especially because I am apart of His
restored church.
So
this week as Elder Dougherty and I were reviewing our companionship and
personal goals we had made from the previous week I felt that not as much
progress had been made towards those goals and I was pondering on how we
could improve. The thought came "set goals and make plans" I realized
that I had not been applying the principles of Preach My Gospel to my
personal life. That is why we did not make progress on our goals because
we did not set specific plans to accomplish those goals. So when we set
our goals this week we pulled out two white boards and put them on the
wall in our room. The first one had our goals and the second one had our
plans. I feel so much more prepared and able to accomplish these goals.
This was a powerful lesson Heavenly Father taught me this week and it
is one that I will remember and apply for the rest of my life. I am so
grateful for a loving Heavenly Father that teaches us throughout our
lives to help us become better. That is what his whole gospel is about.
Continuous and never ending improvement and progression.
Love,
Elder Hallmark
