This week we also had the chance to visit Evelyn. She has been sick for a week so we werent able to meet with her for a while. This visit we reevaluated her commitment level to see if this was something she really wanted to do. She made it clear her strong desire to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized. She just said that she didnt feel ready yet. She felt like she had a lot more work to do and that she was inadequate right now. We had brought a member to this lesson with her, Brother Morgan, and he was able to say the perfect thing to her at that moment. He explained to her that baptism wasnt the ultimate goal we reach at the end of the straight and narrow path, but baptism is the gate to enter the straight and narrow path. Its through baptism that we become worthy and become all that our father in heaven wants us to be. After he said that the spirit was so strong. It was truly a special experience. We will set a baptismal date with her next visit.
So on Thursday I attended the new leadership meeting because of my recent call to be a district leader and that was a great meeting. I definitely learned a lot about how I could better serve and lead this district. Then the next day I had my first district meeting. I definitely felt unprepared because I only had one night. But I still felt that it went well. I am excited to continue serving this district.
So this weekend was an edifying weekend. We were able to listen to the Lord's prophet and twelve apostles speak to us. I know that they were truly inspired messages. I am grateful for that opportunity. Every time I listen to general conference it is always a renewal and a reaffirmation of the Savior's direction and leadership of his kingdom hear on earth. I was impressed with the very basic and simple doctrines taught and reemphasized. In all Conference is a blessing and a testimony that this church is is true. I know that this church is truly lead by the Savior Jesus Christ.
