Beautiful Week!

What another beautiful week in sunny California. And boy is it sunny! It seriously feels like a perfect day everyday here. I feel so lucky. I also forgot to tell you guys we are in an all iPad mission, so it is really nice, it keeps all of our plans so organized and it has such a nice camera to take pictures on. Sometimes I feel spoiled compared to other missions where people are walking through the jungle, lol. But in other news this has been a successful week. On Tuesday we had a new missionary meeting with all the missionaries that came out with me and President Jardine. I loved it so much, mainly because I got to see my MTC companion Elder Young Yen. I missed him so much, we were seriously best friends in the MTC. I really hope I get to be companions with him someday in the field. A lesson I learned this week was how much the mission is not about the missionary at all. It is a totally selfless effort and that is the only way to be a successful missionary. During our personal study time I have tried studying for myself out of the scriptures and the approved library and I just seem to not get anything out of it. I almost feel stumped after finishing. But when I am studying for an investigator we are teaching it is a completely different story. I learn so much and gain so many insights that I never would have. The Lord is truly showing me who this mission is for. And the answer is the California Sacramento Mission for me. This week we got to do a lot of service. We helped a member tear out his driveway so he could put new concrete down and then helped another move on the same day. The next day we went to North Sacramento to a huge warehouse where tons of stuff had been donated for war refugees and we helped sort it all and pack it so they could send it. It was such an amazing experience. I have loved every second of this week we have been able to meet some amazing people and share the gospel with people who were lost. It is so cool seeing the light enter into someones life and see the spirit touch them. This gospel is true. There is no other way it could effect people like I see it effect them every day. The Book of Mormon is true. I know it for a fact more and more each day as I study it.

Love, Elder Hallmark
