I have definitely noticed the Lord's hand as he has placed people in our path who are ready to hear the Gospel. We were able to meet 6 new people this week who are excited to learn more about Jesus Christ and His Gospel. They are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. We had a lesson with Emily and Charles again this week, and we taught them the Plan of Salvation. It was so cool to see them begin to understand their Heavenly Father's plan for them to return to live with Him. We also got the chance to teach a new couple Christine and James. Christine has been taught before and she has a strong testimony of the gospel already, we are mainly teaching her husband and helping him understand the necessity for a restoration of the Gospel, not a reformation. Unfortunately Zach is no longer on date for baptism, he is still struggling with his addictions, but we are still working with him to help him and eventually prepare him for baptism. He is an amazing person and has such a strong desire to overcome and change, but as we all know addictions are so powerful. The beauty of it though is that the Atonement of Jesus Christ can overcome all things. As he continues to work I know he will receive strength through the Savior.
So last Tuesday we had the 5 week new missionary meeting. I had the chance to see Elder Young Yen again. We are still such close friends, I sincerely hope we get the chance to serve around each other someday in the mission. The coolest part of this week was last Saturday we had the opportunity to go to Coloma, which is a city about 45 mins east. It is where Gold was first discovered in 1848 which triggered the gold rush in 1849. It was discovered by Mormons working for at Sutters Mill. There is so much history with the Mormons settling this part of California and so they had a huge pioneer heritage day in Coloma and a bunch of missionaries were invited to attend and be in a parade they were doing. It was a huge event, over 500 people came and almost everyone was dressed in pioneer clothing for it. It was so fun they had so many pioneer games and booths where you learned and got to experience things the pioneers did. I loved every second. It is so beautiful out there. I hope I get the chance to serve in the Eldorado Hills Zone.
God's work is progressing and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be apart of it. I love being able to share this beautiful message with others. It truly brings the most joy and happiness one can experience.
Love, Elder Hallmark
