Righteous Mothers

Well what a fantastic week this was. It has been such perfect weather all week. I am so grateful for beautiful days. So Bella is getting baptized this week!! We are all excited. It is going to be awesome. We have been reviewing all of the lessons with her this last week to really prepare her. She is so ready.

So the last couple of weeks we have been meeting with this older couple, Lamar and Francis Dunster. Lamar has been a member his whole life but hasn't come to church since he was a kid. Francis is very religious herself but they were both so friendly when we came by and they invited us in to talk. They were open to us sharing a message with them about the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was an amazing experience. We met with them again this week and they came to church with us this week as well. I feel like they are my grandparents. They are just so warm and loving. We invited Francis to be baptized and she said she would pray about it so we are really looking forward to following up and seeing how it goes. It is such a blessing to have met them.

This week was such a special week in church. It was amazing to hear the different talks about mothers in honor of mothers day. What a wonderful day to be able to celebrate our mothers and honor them. I love my mother. As I reflected on the importance of mothers it brought to mind the scripture in Alma 56:47-48 where it talks about how 2000 stripling warriors were prepared because they were taught and nurtured by loving and righteous mothers.

"Now they had never fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it."

I am so grateful for that scripture that shows the importance of motherhood. Especially when it is looked down upon so much in the world today. I am grateful that I had a righteous mother that taught me what I need to do.

Love,

Elder Hallmark
